Bio
My name is Luke Butzow. I was both born and raised in San Jose, California, where I spent my adolescence and teens mostly playing sports and blowing off school. I attended CSU Sacramento after high school, where I initially planned to study Russian and get a job within the state department, however that never panned out, so I began to study engineering at Cuesta College. I recently transferred to the Materials Engineering undergraduate program at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, where I plan to study solid state devices and semiconductor manufacturing processes.
I created this website as a way to document my various interests, projects, commentaries and pretty much anything else I feel like uploading, in a more curated way. Sorry if that sounds pretentious. In a way, the Internet has turned us all into niche artists and microinfluencers, so this is my personal way of expressing how I am "hyperaware of the metanarrative" (shut up) behind our collective engagement in the internet. It could also just be a ploy to impress people.
While I have you here, I want to gve you something to think about...
The Internet gets smaller and smaller every day, as people are more neatly siphoned into the same few websites using algorithms to predict, and eventually control what we consume. We are headed for the greatest cultural catastrophe yet, the culture of sameness, where individual expression and creativity is overshadowed by conglomerates who will effectively control Internet traffic, and feed your mind numbing spatter. I'm calling on you to oppose this. Make a dumb website and fill it with your stupid thoughts, just like I have. More than that, cultivate yourself, your tastes, and most importantly, resist the urge to consume and spend time creating. That's the only way to prevent this bleak future.
Now that we have that out of the way, my main hobbies outside of my academic life are pretty boring, I enjoy hiking, fitness, and watching my Maple Leafs. If I find the time, I would also like to discuss books and articles I've read, however Lindy knows we aren't afforded much free time in this 4HL.
Thank you for visiting my site and feel free to contact me about anything. Correspondance is MUCH APPRECIATED!
